“This week, Dr. Karsenty and other prominent names in the bone business will discuss their new research and gleefully clean out their closets at the Third New York Skeletal Biology and Medicine Conference, at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.”
— Bone, A Master Piece of Elastic Strength
Kind of a stretch for the “skeletons in their closets” pun.
I deleted that taco shell commercial because I hated myself for thinking that was an acceptable post.
(The ad’s still racist.)
scene from my bus stop
Sat next to a mother and daughter sharing green apple sour straws for breakfast. Mother kept mocking her husband’s night shift, “Let’s text dad. ‘Hey lazy bones, wake up!’” The pair was generally dismissive of sacrifice and hard work, as evidenced in both their physical appearances and general demeanor.

So being named after Franny and Zooey, we wanted to know how many times you had read it. Once. Just once. Maybe twice.

Bikram yoga- on one hand, absolutely exhilarating and really rewarding. on the other, definitely something for which I have to be in the right frame of mind. I’m planning to get a unlimited monthly pass for May and go daily. I’ll report back.

Unlike dating couples, married couples also put a high premium on their partners’ support of whatever they determine to be necessary obligations.
“In other words, the feelings of being loved and supported that people use to judge who makes a good girlfriend or boyfriend may not be completely trustworthy in deciding who makes a good husband or wife,” said Daniel Molden, assistant professor of...

Travis, recap.
last night’s Travis concert was immensely fun. We had VIP passes:
which meant we could actually sit at the 930 club. (A welcome change)
The opening band was a lot of fun, with three guitarists, three people playing some sort of drum, and an acrylic drum kit with christmas lights.
Travis themselves were tremendously enjoyable. (They did play my favorite song of theirs, Driftwood, so...

weekend in review
Stopped in just-outside-Philadelphia-New Jersey on Friday and saw the type of things you would expect there.
On Saturday, made about 15 pompoms for a bridal shower. They went over rather well, I should say. I was very happy with them—big payoff for very little work. (No need for these such things!)

An examination of JD Salinger’s influences on Wes Anderson.
I’m beginning to feel a little too obvious with my favorites. A little too predictable and unoriginal, but if it’s good, it’s good.
Your NPR Name
liana:
Eric and I recently discovered a shared fascination with the slew of impossibly named NPR hosts we listen to every day: Renee Montagne, Steve Inskeep, Corey Flintoff, Korva Coleman, Kai Ryssdal, Dina Temple-Raston.
In fact, we’ve often wondered what it would be like to be one of them. A Nina Totenberg or a Renita Jablonski. A David Kestenbaum or a Lakshmi Singh. Even (on our most...
For most of us, Woody Allen is as quintessential New York as the Chrysler Building. Many New Yorkers grew up with a vision of this city spun by Annie Hall and Manhattan and Hannah and Her Sisters, where the skyline always twinkles and romance lurks around every limestoned corner; where brainy, nervous men charm young and naïve beautiful women in grand prewar apartments lined with bookshelves;...
