Hot Action Cop, “Feva for the Flava”

hahaha I cannot listen to this song without laughing. It’s like my Secret mood shifter. Shameful.

The nephew of one of my mother’s friends is in this band and  their album came out when I was in high school. We would blast this song really loudly and dance in mom’s friend’s kitchen. I haven’t thought about this song in forever.

50 Steps to Simple Happiness -- New York Magazine → nymag.com

NY based, but some very interesting ideas, like #19:

“Give the people pushing in the subway or rushing in the streets the benefit of the doubt by imagining that it is really important for them to get where they are going.”

I’ve started doing this for when I’m on the metro, driving somewhere, or waiting in line. It’s really helped to de-stress my life, however minor it seems.

During a conversation with my mother yesterday, she told me that I need to be “more introspective”. I honestly don’t know how that could be possible.

You most likely need a thesaurus, a rudimentary grammar book, and a grip on reality. This latter means: there’s no free lunch. Writing is work. It’s also gambling. You don’t get a pension plan. Other people can help you a bit, but essentially you’re on your own. Nobody is making you do this: you chose it, so don’t whine.
